Drew Edsall
As a cycling
and triathlon coach, Drew Edsall successfully
coaches athletes of all ages and abilities. He
creates custom programs for all of his athletes and
regularly performs Lactate Threshold/VO2 Max testing
for anyone who is interested. Two of his clients
include BCCyclists’ Martin Cox and Jamie Knight.
With Drew’s help, Martin has had his best year so
far. He won the overall National series for Super D
in the open 19-29 category, placed 1st overall in
the senior-expert class of the South Eastern
Regional Classics, won his first expert/semi-pro/pro
race, and finished 4th overall in the Florida State
Championship Series in 2007. At 16, Jamie Knight has
been racing in the expert/semi-pro/pro category and
had impressive results in his first year.
In addition to coaching, Drew Edsall is an
accomplished professional mountain bike racer and
xterra athlete. Within his first years of racing,
his accomplishments include a 2nd place finish at
his debut as a semi-pro/pro race, a 1st place finish
in the 6 hours of Reddick, and a 1st place semi-pro
National ranking in 2008. Drew also won his first
Xterra in the summer of 2008 at the Xterra First
Coast in Jacksonville, Florida.
Prior to coaching, Drew studied at Gettysburg
College where he received a bachelor’s degree in
Health and Exercise Sciences in 2004. He focused on
strength and conditioning and interned with the
strength and conditioning coach at James Madison
University in 2003, where he worked with both
division I athletes and professional football
players. Drew also worked as a personal trainer in
Gettysburg, PA, while attending college. As a
personal trainer, he specifically worked with
strength and conditioning for athletes between the
ages of 12 and 18.
While attending college, Drew also competed in track
and field, where he was two time conference champion
in the Decathlon. In 2004, he also became champion
in the Pole Vault.
