What does the ergomo® pro system
include?
The package includes the ergomo®
computer and sensor, pc software, manual,
holder, practice manual, data transfer cable, zip
tie, Reed-contact and magnet, construction tool,
battery charger with several adaptors and washers.
Which things should be kept in mind when
buying an ergomo® system?
Handlebarsize
Bottom bracket width
Interior camp thread ITA/BSC
Axis type (square/Octalinc/ISIS)
Double or triple crank?
Are there different lenghts of axis for
ergomo® pro available?
There are 2 lenghts of axis, one for double
chain rings one for triple available for Octalink
and ISO square type of axis. For ISIS there are 3
different lengths of axis available.
Why is the training data transferred via
cable?
To guarantee a measurement accuracy of +/-
0,5% we use a shielded cable system. This way we
avoid disturbances by high tension power lines,
traffic lights, railways and so on. Thereby also the
problem of timedelayed transmission will become
excluded and being disconnected avoided.
Is the latest version of the Shimano
Hollowtech II also compatible?
The hollowtech II is not support by the
currently available ergomo® systems.
ergomo® offers a carbon crank available
in sizes 170mm/172,5/175mm with 53/39 teeth (hole
circle 135mm) or 50/34 teeth (hole circle 110mm).
The crank is compatible with ISO square Campagnolo
standard.
Which advantages does watt based training
have?
It is always a good idea not only to train
according to one component, but with heartrate and
wattqt3. The pulse is just a reaction, with the
wattage you can follow your actions and train more
efficiently. Due to this, results of the training
are made more visible and the workload can be pushed
higher faster! You can easily tell where and when to
use your energy most efficiently.
How are the worn down pieces replaced and
how long does that take?
Should any part of the ergomo®
system be due for repair, return it to your
retailer/local bike shop. The retailer will return
it to the local ergomo distributor. After receipt a
replacement will be sent to the bike shop within 48
hours.
What is the measuring range of ergomo®?
The ergomo measures between 0 and 2500 watts with an
error of only 0,5%.
Are spare parts sold seperately too?
Following components can be bought seperately for
the ergomo®:
ergomo® datalink
ergoracer®software
ergomo® computerholder
ergomo® loading device
with micro-contoller
ergomo® sensor tool

How does the measurement principle work and
is there a deficit in measuring only one leg´s work?
Measurement principle:
ergomo® measures the
torsion of the bottom bracket axle. This happens via
2 photo interrupter
which are built into the bottom bracket. Both light
sensors use 72 points of measurements per rotation
to measure the torsion of the axis. The 72 points of
measurement (360°/72=5°) are provided by perforated
discs.
These discs
are connected tightly with the axis on the inner
side of the bottom bracket. Is the axis twisted
slightly due to the force pushing down on it, the
perforated disc
shifts in the same way. This shift in position is
measured through the affore mentioned 72 points of
measurement. So you see: the further the shift, the
further the torsion meaning more pedalpower. With
the simple formula of physics: Force =
Pedalpower*Frequency one can easily measure the
workload in watts during cycling.
Through the forces used while cycling and the the
way these forces are measured only the power used on
the left pedal can shown. The left pedalpower is
transferred through the crank and the axis to the
right crank, from where it uses the chain to get to
the backwheel. The forces form the right side don´t
lead to any torsion in the axle.
Consequences for training:
The aim of watt aided training is to improve your
personal skills. All improvements are relative
differences to a certain starting level. These can
be measured eiher on the left or right leg and the
result will be approximately the same for healthy
people. So measuring the watts on the left or right
side brings no differences in the analysis.
Nearly everybody has different absolute power in the
left and right leg (0-5% difference). As long as you
always compare the values of the same leg the
differences does not count nor have any effect on
the training analysis. The ergomo®
system only measures the left leg as decribed above.
The only reason where leg analysis are taken into
account is to improve sportsman at the highest level
or to help someone after injuries. These tests are
always made on statonary bikes and not at mobile
systems like the ergomo. If any differences are
registered, they can be reduced through muscle
training.
Is the heart rate signal coded? Which chest
belts can be used?
The delivery doesn´t include a chest belt. But
ergomo® pro and spin are
both equipped with a coded Polar chip, so coded
transmission is possible if using the necessary
chest belt. You may use coded and uncoded chest
belts.
Do not change the input in the sub menu
settings during your cycling session!
Entering any input in the sub menu settings during a
ride will cause wrong calculation and wrong display
of data. If you want to do any changes in the sub
menu settings, you should do that before and after
your cycling session or stop your ride.
How is the energy consumption taken into
account in the ergomo®?
Energy consumption shows the amount of energy an
athlete is spending.
1 kcal (Kilocalorie) = 4,1868 kJ (Kilojoule)
A calculation example for the ergomo®:
At a mechanical effort of 1420 kj you have 346 kcal.
For this conversion the ergomo® takes a
certain efficiency factor into account, because not
the whole energy is used for the effective work. The
athlete loses energy e.g. for transpiration and
metablolic reactions as well. This efficiency factor
in the ergomo® is 22%.
=> 346kcal/0,22= 1570Kcal
This is the real energy consumption when cycling.

right crank is to be accelerated steadily. Best
results can be achieved when the biggest
chain
ring
is used in combination with the smallest sprocket.
Is the ergomo Sensor water safe?
It is water secured in several different ways and no
moisture and dirt can get inside the sensor.
